You can provide a new pair of shoes for children in need all over the world for just $1.
385 million children around the world live in extreme poverty. That means that every day, millions of children go without life's most basic necessities such as a good pair of shoes. Without shoes, these children are exposed to life-threatening diseases, injury, prevented from attending school and many are left without a sense of dignity. In the U.S., 12.7% of children live in poverty. Families living below the poverty line often have to make the decision not to provide their child with a new pair of shoes that fit properly. This leaves the children wearing worn-out, ill-fitting shoes that are painful to wear, unhealthy for the development of their feet and is a barrier to their learning. Soles4Souls' work is extremely important as it offers short term relief for many who need new shoes to continue school and work, and a long term solution for people to lift themselves out of extreme poverty.
GreaterGood.org partners with Soles4Souls to help provide immediate relief to children without shoes and help “Wear Out Poverty”.
You can help. Just $20 distributes 20 pairs of new shoes to children in the United States and worldwide. In partnership with Nashville-based Soles4Souls™, we are working to distribute 250,000 shoes to people all over the world. Help us make this vision a reality!
Soles4Souls helps men, women and children living in poverty and those affected by natural disaster, through the free distribution of new shoes and clothes. Also, in developing nations such as Haiti, Honduras, parts of Africa and Moldova, where earning a sustainable income is almost impossible to achieve, Soles4Souls supplies shoes and clothes to help women start and operate a small business, or "micro-enterprise." Soles4Souls "micro-enterprise" programs give these entrepreneurs an opportunity to lift themselves out of extreme poverty. Soles4Souls disrupts the cycle of poverty by creating sustainable jobs and providing relief through the distribution of shoes and clothing around the world.
