Help Veterans Continue Serving by Protecting a National Treasure
After serving their country with pride, a team of elite Special Operations veterans is ready to do more. Their new mission begins with helping to preserve and restore one of America’s most valuable resources — Florida’s Coral Reef.
As one of only a handful of barrier reef systems in the United States, Florida’s Coral Reef is of enormous cultural and societal import, not just for Floridians, but for the nation as a whole. The reef serves as the last first line of defense against tropical storms and hurricanes, providing more than $355 million/year in flood protection benefits for the area, and annually generating over $6 billion in revenue and 71,000 jobs annually for the Florida economy. Yet Florida’s Coral Reef has lost more than 75% of its living coral cover due to global stressors and the outbreak of an unprecedented disease and is now in danger of disappearing forever.
Launched on Super Bowl Sunday in Miami in honor of America’s military veterans, GreaterGood.org and FORCE BLUE have teamed up to create 100 Yards of Hope, a year-long coral reef restoration project that will bring much-needed attention to the plight of Florida’s Coral Reef and serve as a demonstration site for future restoration efforts around the globe.
You can be part of this historic mission. Your donations will fund dives, from an individual to a team of six, on to the 100 Yards of Hope site. Just $25 provides a tank of air for a FORCE BLUE veteran. But to make this mission possible, we must take action now.
Our veterans continue to fight for our nation. Help them win this battle. Donate today.
